Mexico anticipates $3 billion in gains from hosting 2026 FIFA World Cup

emirates7 - The Mexican Football Federation anticipates that hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup will generate over $3 billion in economic benefits for the country. The tournament, which will be held for the first time across three nations—Mexico, the United States, and Canada—will feature 48 teams.

According to a statement released on Saturday, Mexico will host 13 matches across three stadiums: Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, and Estadio BBVA in Monterrey. The federation highlighted that the event is expected to boost economic activity and around 24,000 jobs.

Additionally, Mexico expects an influx of 5.5 million tourists during June and July, marking a 44% increase compared to the same period this year. Investments for preparing the three stadiums are estimated at roughly $200 million.
