emirates7 - China’s trade with fellow members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) hit a new record in the first seven months of this year, according to data released Wednesday by the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Figures from China Central Television (CCTV) that between January and July, China’s imports and exports with SCO partners totaled 2.11 trillion yuan (approximately US$294 billion), reflecting a 3 percent year-on-year increase.
In July alone, trade surged 8.5 percent to 326.05 billion yuan — the highest monthly volume and growth rate recorded so far in 2025.
Agriculture-related trade played a central role in this growth. China’s exports of agricultural machinery to SCO countries jumped 47.8 percent, while pesticide formulation exports rose 30.3 percent. At the same time, China’s imports of agricultural products from SCO partners climbed 6.2 percent during the seven-month period.
Since its establishment in 2001, the SCO has expanded cooperation across multiple sectors, steadily boosting intra-regional trade to new highs. In 2024, China’s trade with other SCO members reached 3.65 trillion yuan — 36.3 times higher than the level seen at the group’s founding, GAC data showed.
