International Government Communication Forum to feature global experiences in education, innovation

emirates7 - The 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2025), organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), is set to take place on 10–11 September at Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme “Communication for Quality of Life.”

This year’s edition will examine how strategic communication can enhance wellbeing, resilience, and sustainable development across critical sectors. From leveraging education to foster a happiness-driven economy, to advancing human-centred artificial intelligence and rethinking food systems, keynote sessions will provide insights aimed at guiding policy, innovation, and practical initiatives to improve quality of life globally.

The forum will feature three distinguished international leaders in education, science, and innovation, alongside global decision-makers, communication specialists, and policymakers. Over 22 interactive platforms, the two-day program will include panel discussions, keynote speeches, and workshops designed to tackle some of today’s most pressing global challenges.

Malawian engineer and inventor William Kamkwamba will present a keynote titled “When Thought Becomes a Force for Change.” Drawing from his experience building a wind turbine from basic materials to support his drought-stricken village, Kamkwamba will highlight how government communication can identify and nurture grassroots innovations, and how empowering communities to develop local solutions strengthens food security and resilience.

Oussama Khatib, Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University and President of the International Foundation of Robotics Research (IFRR), will deliver a keynote titled “New Life Code… Human Intelligence and Interactive Technology.” A recipient of the “Arab Genius” award, he will showcase the latest advancements in interactive robotics and their potential to enhance quality of life in healthcare, education, and crisis management. He will also stress the need to integrate ethical and human values into smart technology development to ensure it serves humanity’s wellbeing.

Dr. Karan Rajan, best-selling author and surgeon at the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), will speak on “Food Communication and the Protein Revolution: What Lies Ahead?” He will discuss how communication can promote awareness of scientific breakthroughs in protein development and encourage communities to adopt sustainable food systems that enhance global food security.

The forum’s two-day agenda, spanning 22 platforms, will bring together experts from various sectors, government representatives, international organizations, academic institutions, and media outlets.

IGCF 2025 will focus on five key global priorities: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy. Through discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, the forum aims to advance quality of life, strengthen communication between governments and communities, and inspire collaborative efforts toward a more equitable and sustainable future.
