emirates7 - Acting on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta has unveiled 14 new investment and commercial opportunities at the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project.
Launched through Dubai Municipality, the initiative seeks to empower Hatta’s residents by generating jobs, supporting small enterprises, and advancing sustainable social and economic growth in the region.
As part of the programme, all retail outlets at the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls will be granted exclusively to Emiratis living in Hatta, free of charge, for the first year. This initiative offers local entrepreneurs and productive families a strong platform to expand their businesses in one of the UAE’s most picturesque and culturally significant destinations.
The project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the Hatta Development Master Plan, and the broader objectives of the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta. It also contributes to the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, both of which aim to establish Dubai as one of the world’s top three tourism cities while promoting inclusive growth and environmental sustainability.
Covering 750 square metres, the new facilities include four restaurants, four retail outlets, and six food and beverage kiosks. The offerings will span Emirati, Arabic, and international cuisines, alongside local cafés, equipment rental services, and souvenir shops — all designed to enrich the visitor experience, preserve cultural heritage, and encourage economic independence for Hatta’s citizens.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said: “This is the first time commercial and investment opportunities have been introduced in the Hatta Dam area, particularly at the Sustainable Waterfalls. It represents a milestone in strengthening the local economy and enabling Emirati entrepreneurs. The initiative establishes a nurturing business environment, creating distinctive job opportunities, supporting small projects, and giving productive families the chance to grow their businesses. It paves the way for a new generation of entrepreneurs to thrive.”
Dubai Municipality has invited Hatta residents to apply via [www.dm.gov.ae/business](http://www.dm.gov.ae/business), with selection carried out according to clear eligibility criteria set by the evaluation committee.
The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls is already one of the area’s key tourist landmarks. It features water flowing from the upper dam of the Hatta Hydroelectric Plant over the world’s largest mosaic mural — a 2,199-square-metre artwork made from more than 1.2 million natural marble pieces. The mural portrays the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, celebrating their enduring legacy.
