Emirates-XRG's Christen finishes fourth in disrupted Tour de Pologne stage 3

emirates7 - On Wednesday afternoon, Sebastián Molano secured third place in stage 2 of the Vuelta a Burgos. Meanwhile, Jan Christen followed with a fourth-place finish for UAE Team Emirates-XRG in stage 3 of the Tour de Pologne. However, Christen’s day was overshadowed by a major crash occurring within the last 20 kilometers.

Due to the need to allow ambulances to reach the front, the stage was briefly neutralized, meaning time gaps did not count towards the overall standings. Therefore, only the stage win was at stake in the old mining town of Wałbrzych.

Christen put in a strong effort and earned a spot in the sprint, but the young Swiss rider was eventually overtaken by riders who had rejoined the peloton after the neutralization. Although the group had shrunk to about 20 riders during the decisive moments, it expanded back to its usual size following the neutralization, resulting in a fiercely competitive sprint.

Ben Turner (Ineos Grenadiers) claimed the stage victory, while Christen moved up to third place in the general classification, benefiting from the unfortunate withdrawal of Mathias Vacek (Lidl-Trek).

At the Vuelta a Burgos, Sebastián Molano delivered an impressive sprint to finish third on stage 2. The stage, which ended in Buniel, was expected to favor sprinters, and it unfolded exactly as anticipated.
