Japan's real wages in June fall 1.3%, down for 6th straight month

emirates7 - According to Kyodo News, Japan's real wages declined by 1.3% in June compared to the same month last year, marking the sixth consecutive month of decreases, based on government data released Wednesday.

Meanwhile, nominal wages—which include base pay and overtime—climbed 2.5% to an average of 511,210 yen ($3,500), extending their growth streak to 42 months, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare reported.

The overall wage increase in June was largely driven by a 3.0% rise in special earnings, such as bonuses, which averaged 221,391 yen. However, this growth was notably slower than the 7.8% increase recorded in the previous year.
