emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship 2025, hosted by International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), continued on Saturday at ADNEC Centre Al Ain with another action-packed day of thrilling matches and exceptional athletic performances.
By the end of Day Two, the UAE-based ADMA International led the medal standings, showcasing a dominant performance on home ground.
Saturday’s events saw a strong turnout from amateur and youth categories, with athletes from across the globe displaying high levels of skill and intensity in their bouts.
Currently in second place is the UAE’s Commando Group, followed by Kazakhstan’s Samat Ramazanov Academy in third.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and operates under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP).
Among the attendees on Saturday were Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Destination Management Department at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi; Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM; and Dr. Muhammad Fawzy, Vice President of the Egyptian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Commenting on the day’s success, Tareq Al Bahri said, “We are thrilled with the strong turnout from athletes and fans alike. The enthusiasm and commitment displayed across all age groups demonstrate the growing international stature of this championship. By focusing on youth and amateur athletes, we are laying the foundation for the sport’s future, and this event is a crucial platform for discovering and nurturing new talent.”
He also praised local clubs, adding, “We’re extremely proud of the remarkable performance from Emirati academies today. Their success and top placement in the standings highlight the continued development and popularity of grappling in the UAE.”
Emirati athlete Hamda Almutwa, representing ADMA International and gold medallist in the Girls’ Under-14 / 35kg category, shared, “I'm proud to participate in this championship. The competition was intense, and the turnout was impressive. We trained hard for this, and I was determined to win gold from the start. I’m thankful to my mother, my coaches, and the academy management for their constant support.”
Khushbakht Rasulov of Tajikistan, who clinched gold in the Men’s 35+ / Amateur / 85kg division, said, “Winning gold here is an incredible feeling. This is one of the finest tournaments I’ve participated in. It’s my first time in Al Ain, and I’ve really enjoyed it – the region is beautiful, and the event was very well organised. Thank you to everyone involved.”
The championship wraps up on Sunday with its final day, featuring the professional division playoffs and the awarding of medals and cash prizes to the top competitors.
