UAE Cabinet issues resolution reorganising UAE Gender Balance Council

emirates7 - Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet has approved a resolution to restructure the UAE Gender Balance Council.

This decision reaffirms the UAE’s unwavering dedication to fostering inclusive participation in national development, promoting equal opportunities for all, and cementing the country’s position as a global example in gender balance.

The resolution seeks to broaden the Council’s responsibilities and reinforce its strategic impact by shaping supportive legislative and regulatory frameworks that enhance gender balance across both public and private sectors. This aligns with the UAE’s future-oriented vision and strengthens its standing in international competitiveness indicators.

The Council’s primary goals include ensuring equal opportunities for men and women across various fields, enhancing their contributions to sustainable development, and aligning efforts with national priorities such as family, motherhood, and community welfare. The Council also aims to reinforce the UAE’s status as a global leader in gender equality by improving coordination between federal and relevant entities to a more supportive environment.

Reporting directly to the Cabinet, the Council will be responsible for proposing, reviewing, and advancing gender balance-related policies, laws, and strategies. It will also coordinate with concerned authorities for implementation, monitor global benchmarks, and recommend necessary improvements. In addition, it will establish tools to track progress, develop a unified national database, conduct specialized studies on regional and international trends, and represent the UAE in related international platforms.

The Cabinet also endorsed the restructured composition of the UAE Gender Balance Council, chaired by H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Council includes Mona Ghanem Al Marri as Vice President, along with senior officials from various ministries and federal institutions, bringing a diverse range of expertise to support its mission.

H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also the wife of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed appreciation for the leadership’s continued prioritization of gender balance as a cornerstone of sustainable growth. She highlighted the UAE’s global achievements in this area, emphasizing the country’s role as a regional and international model.

She affirmed that the Council will intensify its efforts in collaboration with public and private sector partners to achieve the leadership’s vision of global excellence. She acknowledged the remarkable accomplishments of Emirati women in fields such as science and medicine, noting their important role in the UAE’s advancement and competitiveness.

Her Highness thanked outgoing Council members for their valuable contributions and welcomed the new members, expressing confidence in their ability to advance the Council’s objectives. She reiterated the Council’s commitment to working with stakeholders to develop effective gender balance policies in line with national goals.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, the Council’s Vice President, underscored that the UAE’s progress in gender balance has become an inspiration worldwide. She credited this success to the nation’s determination and visionary leadership, noting that excellence is achievable in any domain. She confirmed that under H.H. Sheikha Manal’s leadership, the Council will further establish the UAE as a global leader in promoting gender equality and sharing best practices.

Al Marri added that the Cabinet’s decision to restructure the Council will enhance its strategic influence and further embed gender balance as a foundational principle in both public and private sectors—reflecting the country’s broader commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity. She also highlighted that the UAE’s forward-thinking policies have significantly improved its rankings in global gender equality and competitiveness indices.
