Japan's June industrial output rises 1.7% on month

emirates7 - Japan's industrial production grew by 1.7 percent in June compared to the previous month, marking its first rise in three months, according to preliminary data released Thursday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The seasonally adjusted production index for factories and mines reached 102.9, based on the 2020 benchmark of 100. This comes after a revised 0.1 percent decline recorded in May.

Kyodo News reported that output increased in eight industry sectors, including transport equipment (excluding motor vehicles), electronic components and devices, as well as general-purpose and business-use machinery.

Despite the production uptick, the industrial shipments index slipped by 0.8 percent to 101.4, and the inventory index dipped by 0.4 percent to 99.1.
