UAE delegation discusses enhancing aviation cooperation with China

emirates7 - Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), led an official UAE delegation on a four-day visit to the People’s Republic of China to strengthen technical and commercial cooperation in civil aviation and advance the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The delegation included Badr Salim Al Olama, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Engr. Esmaeel Hassan Alblooshi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Civil Aviation, as well as senior officials from GCAA, ADIO, EDGE Group, and RAKDCA.

Al Suwaidi highlighted the steady growth in civil aviation cooperation between the UAE and China, backed by strong bilateral ties and existing agreements. He noted that the UAE aims to broaden collaboration with Chinese partners, particularly in manufacturing, technical licensing, and knowledge sharing, which are key to advancing aviation systems. He described the visit as a tangible step toward forming new partnerships that align with both countries’ aviation growth strategies.

The visit started in Shanghai, where the delegation held high-level meetings and site visits with leading Chinese aerospace companies such as COMAC, TCab Tech, AutoFlight, and CETC LES. The UAE representatives explored the latest innovations in aviation manufacturing.

During a tour of COMAC’s production facilities, Al Suwaidi met with Shen Bo, the company’s Vice Chairman, to discuss COMAC’s future strategies and explore opportunities for industrial collaboration.

The final two days took place in Beijing, where UAE and Chinese officials from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) discussed regulatory cooperation, certification standards, maintenance coordination, air navigation, and institutional development.

The visit concluded with a senior-level meeting between Saif Al Suwaidi and Song Zhiyong, Administrator of CAAC, also attended by UAE embassy officials in China. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening aviation ties and outlined a shared vision for deeper future collaboration in the sector.
