emirates7 - The UAE's trade in telecommunication services grew by 4.3% in 2024, reaching AED 10.2 billion, up from AED 9.8 billion in 2023, according to figures released by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC).
This growth was primarily fueled by a strong showing in the fourth quarter of 2024, which saw a 12.95% year-on-year increase, with trade in telecom services reaching AED 2.70 billion during that period.
The report also showed that telecom service exports rose by 6.49% in 2024 to AED 4.9 billion, while imports climbed by 2.38% to AED 5.3 billion.
The fourth quarter accounted for the largest portion of the annual telecom trade at 26.45%, followed by the third quarter at 25.34% (AED 2.59 billion), the second quarter at 25.05% (AED 2.56 billion), and the first quarter at 23.17% (AED 2.37 billion).
This strong performance highlights the strategic importance of the telecommunications sector in driving the UAE’s digital transformation, bolstering e-commerce, and advancing its technological infrastructure.
FCSC, an entity under the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, was created to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness, statistical capacity, and data-driven policymaking, supporting the nation’s progress toward its Centennial Plan 2071 goals.
