Korea’s producer prices rise for 1st time in 3 months in June

emirates7 - Producer prices in South Korea rose in June for the first time in three months, mainly due to higher costs of agricultural and livestock products, according to data released Tuesday by the Bank of Korea (BOK).

Preliminary figures showed that the producer price index (PPI), a key indicator of future consumer inflation, edged up 0.1 percent month-on-month to 119.77.

This marks the first monthly increase since March, following declines of 0.2 percent in April and 0.4 percent in May.

Year-on-year, the index climbed 0.5 percent in June, extending its upward trend for the 23rd straight month.
