Emirates to introduce third daily flight to Mauritius

emirates7 - Emirates has announced it will launch a third daily flight to Mauritius starting December 1, reinforcing its commitment to boosting inbound tourism to the island.

The new service, designated EK709/710 and operated by a Boeing 777 aircraft, will enhance the airline’s current schedule and offer more travel flexibility to passengers across Emirates’ network of over 140 destinations.

Currently, Emirates operates two daily flights to Mauritius using its flagship A380 aircraft under flight numbers EK701/702 and EK703/704.

The new frequency, which is part of a codeshare agreement with Air Mauritius, aims to provide more convenient departure times and improve connectivity for travelers from the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas heading to this Indian Ocean destination.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the additional service using the Boeing 777 will boost capacity on the route by over 30%, while offering more travel options for both leisure and business passengers.

Since beginning operations to Mauritius in 2002, Emirates has transported over 8.8 million passengers and more than 126,000 tonnes of cargo to and from the island.

The airline’s activities have made notable economic and social contributions, including US$119 million in direct revenue from flights, US$264 million in tourism earnings, and a total impact of US$530 million on the Mauritian economy through tourism spending. Emirates’ presence has also helped around 3,600 jobs in the country.
