UAE AI Award launches its second edition for year 2025

emirates7 - The UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain has announced the launch of the second edition of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Award, reaffirming the nation’s dedication to advancing innovation and excellence in AI adoption across both public and private sectors.

This initiative aims to boost competitiveness by recognizing exemplary efforts in AI implementation, reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to become a global hub for technological innovation and smart governance.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted that the award aligns with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. He emphasized the government's ongoing mission to strengthen the UAE’s global digital leadership through the adoption of cutting-edge AI solutions that transform government services and stimulate innovation.

Al Olama reiterated that the UAE government is committed to empowering institutions, encouraging community participation, and improving the efficiency of public sector performance, all in support of building a fully integrated digital ecosystem that keeps pace with rapid advancements in AI.

As part of the country’s broader digital transformation strategy, the government is implementing advanced frameworks to embed AI across key sectors, establishing unified national standards for AI applications, and driving the development of innovative solutions that enhance services, future readiness, and global competitiveness.

The UAE Artificial Intelligence Award encourages participation from federal and local government entities, semi-government bodies, academic institutions, private organizations, and individuals. It seeks to promote the use of AI in shaping a digitally-driven future that prioritizes institutional development, social inclusion, and inter-sectoral collaboration.

The award features five categories:

Excellence in AI-powered Services – Recognizes solutions that improve service quality and efficiency through AI, enabling smarter decision-making, cost reduction, and streamlined operations.

AI Solutions Developed in the UAE – Highlights locally developed AI solutions that embody Emirati identity in both design and implementation.

Best Government-Private Partnership in AI – Celebrates impactful collaborations between government bodies and private companies that deliver innovative, AI-driven results benefiting both the public and national objectives.

AI Leader – Honors individuals in government who champion AI initiatives, lead team development, enhance service delivery, and raise awareness of AI’s role in improving performance.

AI Scientific Research – Acknowledges groundbreaking research contributions that advance AI theory or real-world application.

Applications will be assessed based on innovation, adherence to AI ethics, technological maturity, scalability, adaptability, and potential impact.

The award’s first edition saw strong engagement, with more than 225 submissions and 12 finalists. Winners included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Advanced Technology Research Council, Abu Dhabi Mobility, and DP World. These entities were honored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2024.
