Liwa Dates Festival attracts over 50,000 visitors in 5 days

emirates7 - Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the 2025 Liwa Dates Festival has drawn 50,225 visitors in its first five days.

Now in its 21st edition, the festival is organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and runs until 27th July in Liwa City, located in the Al Dhafra Region.

As one of the UAE’s most prominent events dedicated to palm heritage and traditional farming, the Liwa Dates Festival plays a crucial role in supporting the agricultural sector and promoting food security. It is a much-anticipated annual gathering for farmers and the broader community.

The festival hosts 24 competitions offering a total of 308 prizes worth AED 8.735 million, along with stage contests designed for public engagement.

The event highlights Abu Dhabi’s dedication to preserving cultural traditions and passing them on to future generations, while honouring the date harvest season and the palm tree—an enduring symbol of Emirati identity.

In addition to supporting local farmers, the festival draws visitors and tourists from across the UAE and the GCC, offering a vibrant and traditional environment with interactive experiences for families and attendees.
