Over 1,000 athletes participate at IMMAF Youth World Championships in Al Ain

emirates7 - The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation is intensifying its final preparations to host the sixth edition of the IMMAF Youth World Championships, set to take place in Al Ain from July 21 to 27. This year’s event will welcome over 1,000 male and female athletes from 60 countries—a record number that underscores the championship’s expanding international stature.

Among the top participating nations are defending champions Ukraine, along with the UK, Uzbekistan, the UAE, and Armenia.

For the first time, Al Ain will serve as the host city, while the UAE continues its streak of hosting the tournament for the fourth year in a row.

Participation has surged dramatically, rising from 200 athletes in 2022’s third edition to more than 1,000 this year. This sharp increase reflects the championship’s growing appeal and the UAE’s pivotal role in elevating it into a global hub for young MMA talent.

Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, a board member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Chairman of the MMA Committee, stated that preparations are proceeding in line with a detailed plan addressing all organizational, logistical, and technical aspects. The Federation is collaborating closely with both local and international partners to deliver a standout event that upholds the UAE’s reputation for excellence in hosting major sporting competitions.

“This year’s record participation signals the championship’s rapid evolution and solidifies its role as a global platform for nurturing the next generation of MMA athletes,” Al Dhaheri noted.

He also highlighted that the 2025 edition will offer a comprehensive experience for athletes, officials, and fans alike. Beyond elite competition, various cultural and entertainment activities will contribute to establishing the tournament as a premier international gathering for rising MMA stars.

Meanwhile, the UAE National Team is undergoing rigorous training at a camp in Thailand, focusing on enhancing their physical conditioning and technical skills. The camp is designed to ensure the athletes are fully prepared to deliver a strong showing, showcasing the progress of MMA in the UAE and positioning the team as strong contenders in the championship.
