Jurassic World Rebirth stomps global box office with $318.3 million

emirates7 - While Jurassic World Rebirth may explore the idea of "dinosaur fatigue," audiences clearly aren’t tired of the franchise. The latest installment in the Jurassic World series dominated the Fourth of July holiday box office, raking in a global total of $318.3 million over five days, according to studio estimates released on Sunday.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and released by Universal Pictures, the film debuted on Wednesday and brought in $147.3 million across 4,308 theaters in North America over five days. Of that, about $91.5 million came from the traditional three-day weekend—Friday through Sunday—including projections for Independence Day.

The movie also performed strongly overseas, premiering in 82 international markets and contributing $171 million to the overall earnings. China was a key market, accounting for $41.5 million of that total. The film screened on 65,000 Chinese screens, including 760 IMAX theaters, making it the country’s top MPA (Motion Picture Association) debut of the year.

“This is an outstanding performance,” said Jim Orr, Universal’s head of domestic distribution. “Jurassic World Rebirth delivers exactly what summer moviegoers are looking for—an epic, high-energy adventure that’s expertly crafted.”

Despite not being shown on domestic IMAX screens—due to IMAX’s ongoing run of F1—the film still performed exceptionally well in other premium formats. Notably, it pulled in nearly $8 million from just 167 Dolby Cinema screens over the five-day period.
