Air quality initiative launched in Dibba Al-Hisn

emirates7 - Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality, in collaboration with Sharjah Municipality, has launched a new environmental initiative aimed at monitoring outdoor air quality across residential, agricultural, and industrial areas of the city. Utilizing a mobile air quality monitoring vehicle, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health.

This project is carried out under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It aligns with the city’s broader goal of becoming a model in health and environmental standards, as outlined in the "Sharjah Healthy City" programme. The municipality's comprehensive efforts address critical areas such as water quality, food safety, sewage efficiency, and reducing air pollution, all of which contribute to creating a sustainable and healthy environment.

The initiative underscores the municipality's dedication to environmental best practices and collaborative development. The mobile unit will monitor air quality in strategic locations, including residential zones, farmlands, and public spaces. This effort is part of a broader strategy to collect reliable environmental data, which will be used to improve agricultural and landscaping practices to meet top environmental standards.

Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, Director of Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality, emphasized the municipality’s commitment to enhancing the community’s well-being by creating a cleaner, healthier environment. He noted that this type of continuous, precise monitoring is essential for making informed environmental decisions and improving the city's living conditions.

He also highlighted that the initiative will boost public awareness about environmental issues and offer valuable data to support urban planning and public health policies. This includes choosing optimal locations for tree planting, upgrading infrastructure in areas with higher pollution, and guiding educational campaigns. By tracking environmental conditions throughout the year and linking them to health data, the municipality aims to strengthen safety and quality of life through partnerships with relevant Sharjah entities.

Al Yahyai expressed his appreciation for Sharjah Municipality’s cooperation, stressing that such partnerships enhance service delivery and contribute to Sharjah’s broader vision for sustainable development and improved living standards.
