Emirati Women's Day 2025 to be marked under theme 'Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years'

emirates7 - Under the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the “Mother of the Nation”, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the theme for Emirati Women’s Day 2025 has officially been announced as “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years.”

Celebrated annually on 28th August, this year’s event is particularly significant as it marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the General Women’s Union in 1975. The chosen theme highlights the spirit of collaboration and the enduring contributions of Emirati women throughout five decades of progress.

The announcement is in line with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration of 2025 as the ‘Year of Community’, under the theme “Hand in Hand.” This reflects the UAE’s broader vision of fostering national unity and recognizing the vital role of women as equal partners in the country’s development journey.

This year’s theme embodies deep national and social significance. It symbolizes the cooperative values that shape the UAE’s approach to empowering women, while emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration across all sectors of society to advance further.

The decision to adopt this theme falls within the ongoing initiatives led by the General Women’s Union, under the guidance of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Since its inception, the Union has played a pivotal role in promoting women’s issues and reinforcing their key role in national growth.

Thanks to Sheikha Fatima’s visionary leadership, the Union has established a comprehensive framework for women’s empowerment, built on the foundations of national identity, solidarity, and community engagement.

Emirati Women’s Day is a proud national occasion that honors the achievements of Emirati women, while reaffirming a collective commitment to work side by side with men. It reflects the leadership’s belief that the empowerment of women is essential to empowering the nation and that investing in their capabilities is fundamental to sustainable development and long-term national success.
