emirates7 - flydubai has begun construction on its new Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South. This multimillion-dollar facility, expected to be completed in the final quarter of 2026, will enhance the airline’s control over maintenance and speed up turnaround times for its expanding fleet.
Covering 32,600 square meters, the centre will include an aircraft hangar, support workshops, and office buildings. Building this centre highlights flydubai’s commitment to boosting its in-house capabilities and demonstrates the airline’s growing maturity as it expands both its fleet and network.
The groundbreaking event was attended by a senior delegation led by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, alongside Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, and representatives from the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).
Al Zaffin commented, “This facility strengthens our dedication to supporting the aviation sector with cutting-edge infrastructure and helps to further establish Dubai as a leading global aviation hub.”
Al Ghaith added, “This is a key move to meet our increasing maintenance needs as we receive more aircraft, reaffirming our long-term commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global leader in aviation and business excellence.”
flydubai signed an agreement with MBRAH at the 2023 Dubai Airfor this purpose-built Aircraft Maintenance Centre.
Situated in Dubai South, an area known for its aviation and logistics ecosystem, the centre’s location near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) — soon to be the world’s largest airport — is ideal.
The new facility will house flydubai’s growing team of over 600 skilled engineers specializing in Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and Workshops, all dedicated to ensuring the safety and airworthiness of the airline’s fleet.
