Zayed University joins Digital Education Council

emirates7 - Zayed University (ZU) has become a member of the Digital Education Council (DEC), joining over 90 prestigious institutions worldwide in a global effort to promote AI literacy, responsible digital transformation, and educational innovation.

As the first university in the UAE to join the DEC, ZU’s membership marks a key achievement in its strategic goal to empower students, faculty, and leadership with the knowledge, tools, and mindset needed to succeed in an increasingly digital landscape.

This move aligns with ZU’s broader initiative to embed AI across its academic and operational practices, including ongoing faculty training, enhancements in digital teaching methods, and curriculum development tailored to the evolving demands of the workforce.

“Integrating AI into everything we do is essential to developing digital fluency at Zayed University,” said Professor Michael Allen, Acting Vice President of ZU. “Through DEC, we can both share our experiences and gain from a global network of educational leaders. But the true value lies in translating those insights into action—in our classrooms, our programmes, and the way we shape students for the future.”

Beginning this summer, ZU will introduce two major DEC initiatives: the Certificate in AI for Higher Education for faculty and leadership, and the AI Literacy for Students programme.

In parallel with its new DEC affiliation, ZU’s College of Technological Innovation (CTI) will launch a new Bachelor of Science in Intelligent Systems Engineering this Fall. The programme is designed to equip future engineers with the skills to develop and manage intelligent systems driven by AI and emerging technologies.

Additionally, CTI will offer two new Master’s degrees—in Cybersecurity and Digital Transformation and Innovation—addressing the growing local and global need for advanced digital expertise and specialised professional skills.
