UAE, European Union Agency sign MoU to establish secure communication line to enhance security, police cooperation

emirates7 - The United Arab Emirates, through its Ministry of Interior, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Europol — the European Union’s law enforcement agency — to establish a secure communication channel between the two entities.

This agreement reflects the depth of the strategic relationship between the UAE and the EU, particularly in areas related to security cooperation and the fight against transnational organised crime.

The primary objective of the MoU is to a secure technical infrastructure that will facilitate the exchange of police and security information. This will strengthen both sides’ capabilities in tackling organised crime that spans across borders.

The UAE Ministry of Interior emphasized that this agreement marks a significant step in advancing the country’s global security partnerships. It aligns with the UAE’s broader vision to develop a comprehensive and collaborative security framework that leverages cutting-edge technologies and shared expertise to promote safety and stability both locally and internationally. The MoU also builds on the Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed between the UAE and Europol on September 7, 2016, aimed at combating transnational crime.

Europol, in turn, welcomed the agreement, commending its strong ties with the UAE Ministry of Interior. The agency noted that such collaborations with proactive international partners play a vital role in enhancing both regional and global security.
