emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, announced today that Dubai Basketball Club has been selected to join the prestigious EuroLeague starting with the 2025–26 season—marking a major milestone in the city's sporting journey.
“Dubai continues to establish itself as a prominent player on the global sports stage,” stated Sheikh Mansoor. “The Dubai Sports Council remains committed to supporting local clubs in reaching new heights and opening doors for athletes to compete at the highest international levels.”
Founded in 2023, Dubai Basketball Club has quickly earned recognition for its ability to go head-to-head with top domestic and international teams. “In just two years, the club has proven that it can compete alongside basketball’s elite,” Sheikh Mansoor said. “Its entry into the EuroLeague will not only enhance the competition but also serve as an inspiration for aspiring athletes throughout the UAE.”
The team boasts a diverse international lineup, with standout talent from the UAE, Philippines, USA, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Jordan, Türkiye, Latvia, Italy, Bosnia, and France, under the guidance of FIBA-certified coaching staff.
The club’s EuroLeague inclusion comes as part of the league’s strategic expansion to 20 teams, aimed at increasing the number of games, intensifying rivalries, and engaging a wider global audience. Dubai Basketball Club will compete in 38 regular-season matchups and host games at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena.
By joining the EuroLeague, the club will go head-to-head with legendary teams such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Olympiacos, and Fenerbahçe. With an annual global viewership exceeding 300 million, the EuroLeague offers an unmatched platform for exposure and competition.
Earlier in the 2024–25 season, Dubai Basketball Club made its debut in the Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA) League, reaching the semi-finals against 16 teams representing six nations: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, and the UAE. This strong showing highlighted the club’s readiness to take on Europe’s top basketball talent.
