emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, attended the launch ceremony of Khalid bin Sultan City at BEEAH Group’s headquarters on Thursday.
The city, developed and managed by BEEAH Group, highlights the company’s vital role in advancing Sharjah’s urban development efforts.
The ceremony opened with a film titled “We’re Shaping the Next Era,” which chronicled BEEAH’s transformation from a local waste management firm into a global sustainability leader. The film showcased the group's evolution into a multifaceted organization offering services across sustainability, energy, technology, healthcare, and real estate.
Khaled Al Huraimel, BEEAH’s CEO and Vice Chairman, described Khalid bin Sultan City as a major milestone in the group’s real estate journey. He emphasized that it reflects BEEAH’s broader mission to redefine urban life through sustainable, integrated solutions across multiple sectors.
Al Huraimel noted that BEEAH’s experience in building infrastructure—from recycling centers and eco-communities to smart and clean energy systems—has positioned the group to lead in urban development. He attributed the foundation of such efforts to the vision and leadership of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
A second film screened during the event explored the concept of Khalid bin Sultan City—BEEAH’s vision for a smart city where sustainability and human connection are central. The project is inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, known for his contributions to urban planning and design in Sharjah.
Nada Taryam, CEO of Real Estate Development at BEEAH, emphasized that the city represents a new vision for sustainable, human-centric living. She explained that the project integrates smart infrastructure with architectural designs that honor cultural identity and foster creative, social, and cultural engagement.
Taryam revealed that renowned Zaha Hadid Architects designed the city’s master plan, delivering an innovative and visually striking urban landscape aimed at improving quality of life.
The ceremony concluded with a presentation film highlighting Khalid bin Sultan City as a model for intelligent, sustainable urban living. Spanning 1.5 square kilometers, the development will feature 1,500 freehold residential and commercial units, as well as cultural and entertainment spaces. The project will also include BEEAH’s award-winning LEED Platinum-certified headquarters.
Following the launch, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed toured exhibitions showcasing the city's design and features. He learned about the project’s aim to implement a zero-waste strategy rooted in four pillars: sustainability, technology, culture, and human connection. This aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of BEEAH.
The Deputy Ruler was briefed on the city’s smart infrastructure, including renewable energy systems, water recycling, sustainable transport, and AI-driven digital services, all designed to deliver a seamless urban experience.
The city master plan features walkable neighborhoods, wellness-oriented amenities, and inclusive public spaces that promote community interaction, belonging, and sustainable growth.
Khalid bin Sultan City will consist of seven distinct residential districts, each organized around a central plaza designed as a community hub and wellness space within a five-minute walk from homes. The city will also offer health clinics, children’s centers, sports areas, and outdoor cafés.
At the heart of the city is a 2-kilometer green spine, complete with parks, jogging and cycling paths, and shaded gathering spaces.
The project will offer diverse freehold housing options including villas, townhouses, and apartments—combining sustainability with modern comforts. Further information about housing availability and services will be announced in upcoming sales phases.
To conclude the event, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed received a commemorative shield featuring the city’s design, presented by BEEAH in appreciation of his participation.
The ceremony was also attended by several dignitaries and senior officials, including Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi, and other prominent figures from local and federal institutions.
