Abdullah bin Zayed meets Secretary of Economy of Mexico

emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, during his official visit to Mexico City.

The two sides reviewed the strong bilateral ties between the UAE and Mexico and discussed ways to boost cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy and investment. They also explored new opportunities for joint work in vital sectors such as energy, advanced technology, and food security.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the strength of UAE-Mexico relations and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to building a solid economic partnership that promotes shared development goals and long-term economic sustainability for both nations.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the UAE Ministry of Investment and Mexico’s Secretariat of Economy to enhance investment collaboration between the two countries. The agreement was signed by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Secretary Marcelo Ebrard.

Additionally, another MoU was signed between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology to establish a joint UAE-Mexican Business Council. This agreement was signed by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Sergio Contreras, Executive President of the Mexican Council.

Furthermore, both countries signed the terms of reference to initiate negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The signing was conducted by Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi and Secretary Marcelo Ebrard.

The meeting was attended by several senior UAE officials, including Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri; and Salem Rashed Alowais, UAE Ambassador to Mexico.
