emirates7 - The governments of the UAE and Pakistan have initiated a strategic partnership aimed at modernizing government operations, marking a significant advancement in their bilateral cooperation.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, reaffirmed his country’s dedication to deepening its longstanding friendship with the UAE and expanding collaboration across various sectors.
He highlighted Pakistan’s desire to learn from the UAE’s innovative government practices, which have placed it among the world’s leaders in administrative modernization.
During a meeting with a UAE government delegation, Prime Minister Sharif pointed to Pakistan’s recent reforms, including advancements in digital governance, paperless economic systems, and the implementation of identity-free customs processes.
He expressed eagerness for Pakistan to adopt effective UAE models that promote data-driven decision-making and good governance.
The UAE delegation was led by Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, along with Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.
Sharif recalled his recent visit to Abu Dhabi and his meeting with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, describing the encounter as highly productive and praising the UAE’s ongoing developmental support and strategic initiatives in Pakistan.
During that visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to formalize the UAE-Pakistan strategic partnership on government modernization.
The MoU was signed by Abdulla Lootah and Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, in the presence of senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and Ambassador Al Zaabi.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, referred to the partnership as a continuation of the strong bilateral ties established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
He highlighted the leadership’s commitment to building on these relations to ensure sustainable cooperation that promotes prosperity and mutual benefits for both nations.
Al Gergawi added that under the guidance of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE is advancing cooperation and strengthening its fruitful partnership with Pakistan.
He stressed the UAE’s commitment to expanding collaboration across multiple fields in alignment with the shared vision of both countries.
This partnership aims to boost bilateral cooperation through sharing best practices in governance, public administration, and institutional innovation.
