Earthquake of magnitude 5.3 strikes South Sandwich Islands region

emirates7 - A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck the South Sandwich Islands region in the South Atlantic Ocean today, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake occurred at a depth of 316 kilometers, with its epicenter situated about 206 kilometers northwest of Hough Island (Homa Tonga).

No tsunami warnings have been issued, and there have been no immediate reports of injuries or property damage resulting from the tremor.
