Japan’s Brex crowned champions of FIBA Basketball Champions League - Asia in Dubai

emirates7 - Japan’s Utsunomiya Brex secured the 2025 FIBA Basketball Champions League Asia title with a thrilling 94-93 victory over Lebanon’s Al Riyadi in the final held at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena.

The match was a nail-biter right to the end, with DJ Newbill hitting a decisive three-pointer with just 23.6 seconds left on the clock, overturning a 91-93 deficit and sealing the win for Utsunomiya. The triumph ended Al Riyadi’s winning run and thwarted their attempt to defend the title.

This win marks only the second time a Japanese team has claimed the championship, the last being Alvark Tokyo in 2019.

In the battle for third place, Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar Broncos edged out Shabab Al Ahli 84-79, earning their best-ever result in the tournament and securing the bronze medal.
