Sharjah Crown Prince discusses energy sector developments

emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Energy Council, presided over the council’s second meeting on Monday morning at the Ruler’s Office.

Also in attendance was H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Petroleum Department.

During the session, the council reviewed major issues concerning Sharjah’s energy sector. Discussions covered current strategies and public policies related to energy and water, along with developmental plans aimed at boosting capacity while adhering to international sustainability and environmental standards.

Council members received updates on recent developments within the energy sector and reviewed the performance of key institutions. Highlights included initiatives focused on diversifying energy sources, upgrading systems and technologies in line with global benchmarks, and supporting carbon reduction and climate neutrality efforts.

The council also discussed findings from recent official visits to countries recognized for their achievements in sustainable energy and water management, exploring best practices and innovations. Future project proposals were evaluated, particularly those aimed at expanding clean energy options and enhancing resource efficiency in an environmentally responsible manner.

Among the attendees were Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Petroleum Department; Saeed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority; and Hatem Diab Al Mousa, Secretary-General of the Energy Council.
