emirates7 - TAQA Distribution, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Airports during the World Utilities Congress 2025. This agreement aims to explore ways to improve the management of power and water infrastructure and to integrate advanced technologies into the current and future utility networks across all airports in Abu Dhabi.
The MoU was signed by Omar Al Hashmi, CEO of TAQA Distribution, and Elena Sorlini, MD & CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, in the presence of senior officials and industry experts.
Under this agreement, TAQA Distribution will leverage its extensive experience in managing Abu Dhabi's reliable public utilities network, its proven ability to design and construct energy-efficient and cost-effective utility infrastructure, and its commitment to operational excellence in maintaining private-sector utility assets.
Omar Al Hashmi stated, "This MoU enables TAQA Distribution and Abu Dhabi Airports to collaborate closely in advancing Abu Dhabi’s vision to become a leading global aviation hub. Our expertise in planning, executing, and operating utility assets will seamlessly integrate with Abu Dhabi Airports' operations, greatly enhancing infrastructure efficiency to better serve millions of passengers and support the Emirates' economic and logistical objectives."
Zayed International Airport (AUH) benefits from partnerships like this, which focus on sustainable and innovative development. Such collaborations strengthen Abu Dhabi's dedication to expanding capacity and improving operational performance, securing its position as a top regional gateway.
Elena Sorlini remarked, “With the aviation sector constantly evolving, resilient and sustainable utility services are essential for long-term success. Partnering with TAQA Distribution allows us to elevate private network operations to the standards of public networks, ensuring uninterrupted service around the clock. Together, we are reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a preferred destination for trade, tourism, and economic diversification.”
This MoU supports key elements of the Emirates’ growth plan outlined in the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. The modernization and digital transformation of utility services—using AI-driven predictive maintenance and advanced customer relationship management—will align the Emirate’s airport infrastructure with international best practices.
