TAQA Distribution showcases Emirati talent programme at World Utilities Congress 2025

emirates7 - During its participation in the World Utilities Congress 2025, TAQA Distribution reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing Emirati talent, with a spotlight on its flagship initiative, “ETLAQ.” This programme is designed to equip Emirati graduates, technicians, and students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the energy and utilities sector.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Haitham Al Subaihi, Executive Vice President of People and Culture at TAQA Distribution, emphasized that “ETLAQ” is a core element of the company’s strategy to empower young Emiratis through a robust framework of professional and leadership development tailored to the sector’s evolving needs.

Originally launched in 2020 as the “ETLAQ Graduate Programme,” it has successfully trained more than 250 graduates over four cohorts, with a focus on building leadership capabilities, personal growth, and specialized technical skills.

This year, the initiative was expanded to include a dedicated track for technicians, providing practical, hands-on training specifically designed for the energy transmission and distribution fields. This enhancement aligns with TAQA Distribution’s commitment to ensuring its workforce is equipped for real-world operational challenges.

The programme is bolstered by collaborations with key academic and vocational institutions such as the Higher Colleges of Technology and the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute, ensuring that technical graduates are well-prepared for industry roles.

Additionally, TAQA Distribution launched two new components this year: a summer internship programme for university students and an alternative national service option, both aimed at offering early exposure to the energy sector and improving future job prospects.

Looking forward, the company is in the final stages of expanding “ETLAQ” into the Al Dhafra region, as part of its broader objective to support balanced development throughout the Emirate.
