emirates7 - The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has introduced two special categories in its 12th edition: the University Challenge and the AI Skills Camp (AISC).
These additions aim to celebrate innovation in smart communication and encourage the use of technology and digital solutions within the realm of government communication.
The University Challenge is a three-day creative contest conducted in partnership with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), inviting students from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to present inventive communication projects.
The AI Skills Camp, held in collaboration with the Rubu' Qarn Life Skills Centre in Sharjah, is designed to nurture creativity and enhance practical knowledge in artificial intelligence. It focuses on using smart technologies for the development and management of government and media content.
Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB, emphasised the SGCA’s mission to promote creative excellence in digital communication. She highlighted the importance of using modern technologies to engage the public effectively, in line with rapid tech advancements that are now integral to government communication.
Al Suwaidi added that these two categories are intended to motivate university students to develop innovative and practical ideas that improve the quality of government communication. They also broaden the scope of the SGCA, allowing for wider participation and contributing to the growth of the sector locally, regionally, and internationally.
The 12th SGCA edition features 23 categories covering various strategic areas, including public sector institutions, international bodies, private organisations, individual recognitions, the “Best Innovators Competition in Smart Communication,” jury awards, and partner accolades.
Entries for all categories are open until July 24, with winners to be announced during the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in September.
Further information, including submission guidelines, criteria, and category details, can be found on the award’s official website.
