Dubai SME targets 8,000 new Emirati businesses by 2033

emirates7 - The Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Dubai SME) plans to support the creation of 8,000 new Emirati businesses by 2033, increasing the total number of enterprises it supports to 27,000, up from 19,000 at the end of 2024.

Ahmad Al Room Almheiri, Acting CEO of Dubai SME, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the organization is committed to integrating artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to improve its services, analyze market trends, and boost the effectiveness of its support.

He explained that Dubai SME uses smart tools to spot opportunities, offer specialized consulting, and provide digital training. Many licensing and technical support processes have been automated.

“AI will also play a key role in tracking business progress and enabling quick responses to challenges,” Almheiri said. He added that Dubai SME runs training programs to help entrepreneurs incorporate AI into their businesses, promoting innovation, growth, and global competitiveness.

Al Romaithi also highlighted some challenges startups face, such as funding difficulties and high operational costs. He mentioned that Dubai SME provides seed and expansion funding through the Mohammed Bin Rashid Fund for SMEs, along with commercial licenses available for AED1,000. Additionally, incubator spaces at the Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation support sectors like AI, digital economy, and fintech.

Dubai SME emphasizes productivity and sustainability by offering relevant tools and resources, including a grant program for innovative ideas, initiatives to support e-commerce entry, and a procurement program that requires government and semi-government bodies to allocate 10% of their purchases to Dubai SME members.

Furthermore, Dubai SME holds monthly workshops with industry stakeholders and has provided consultations to over 3,000 entrepreneurs in the last year.
