US President's visit highlights robust UAE-US economic ties

emirates7 - President Donald Trump’s visit to the United Arab Emirates represents a pivotal moment in reinforcing the strategic alliance between the two countries.

This visit highlights the mutual dedication to deepening long-standing economic ties and exploring fresh avenues for cooperation.

UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri emphasized that the visit reflects the leadership’s vision to build stronger partnerships and promote greater economic openness. “The UAE and the United States enjoy a long-standing relationship rooted in friendship and mutual respect,” he said. “President Trump’s visit further reinforces the UAE’s stature as a global economic hub and supports the nation’s efforts to achieve sustainable economic and social progress.”

Economic relations between the two nations are notably strong. Al Marri noted that nearly 13,000 American companies were active in the UAE by the end of 2024, along with over 66,000 US trademarks. Meanwhile, more than 115 Emirati companies are operating across various sectors in the US, including healthcare, tourism, technology, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, aviation, and hospitality.

On the trade front, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi underlined the significance of the US as a vital trading partner. He pointed to the continued efforts to elevate the partnership toward greater economic prosperity.

“The United States is a valued ally and friend to the UAE,” Al Zeyoudi said. “We are committed to enhancing our bilateral trade ties, ensuring the continued flow of goods, services, and capital, which are vital to our shared economic progress.”

He also highlighted that the US remained the UAE’s top trading partner outside Asia and sixth globally in 2024, accounting for 4% of the UAE’s total non-oil trade, amounting to $32.8 billion.

This strong trade relationship is expected to expand further, particularly in areas of shared interest like clean energy, advanced technology, and sustainable industrial growth.

Tourism is another key aspect of the bilateral relationship. Minister Al Marri noted that around 980,200 American tourists visited the UAE in 2024, representing a 5.4% increase from the previous year. The 112 weekly flights between the two nations further illustrate the growing tourism and people-to-people connections.

Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei stressed the UAE’s role as a dependable energy partner and one of the largest investors in US renewable energy. He described this collaboration as a model for successful international economic partnerships.

Al Mazrouei noted that President Trump’s visit follows recent discussions held during US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright’s trip to the UAE, where both sides explored enhanced cooperation in areas such as energy, artificial intelligence, efficiency, and investment opportunities. These talks highlight a shared focus on sustainability, innovation, and energy transition.

He also expressed the UAE’s interest in deepening collaboration with American partners in sustainable infrastructure, smart mobility, and logistics—sectors that support the nation’s ambition to be a global innovation and energy leader.

The ministers expressed strong optimism about the future of UAE-US economic ties, reiterating their commitment to fostering opportunities and support for businesses in both countries. President Trump’s visit stands as a clear affirmation of the enduring and expanding economic and strategic relationship between the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
