Dubai Police adopts urban-rural zoning strategy to enhance security coverage, response time

emirates7 - In line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, Dubai Police has launched a new operational strategy that categorizes the emirate into "urban" and "rural" zones. This initiative is designed to enhance security coverage, shorten emergency response times, and improve the allocation of personnel, patrol units, and smart technologies—including AI—throughout all regions under their jurisdiction.

The strategy was unveiled during the first-quarter performance review of the General Department of Operations, chaired by Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, along with other senior officials.

Major General Al Mansouri highlighted the vital role of the Operations Department in safeguarding public safety and ensuring swift mobilization of patrols and emergency units. He noted that the new zoning model supports Dubai’s urban planning objectives and boosts the force’s overall preparedness.

He further explained that classifying Dubai’s areas as either urban or rural enables more targeted deployment of personnel to address varying requirements—ranging from law enforcement and traffic control to community outreach—contributing to the broader goal of sustaining Dubai’s status as one of the world’s safest cities and enhancing residents’ satisfaction.

Brigadier Turki bin Faris added that this strategic division will greatly increase the operational effectiveness of Dubai Police, bolster emergency response efforts, and foster continued innovation in policing services across the emirate.
