UAE participates in AIDSMO meeting in Morocco

emirates7 - The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the 31st meeting of the Advisory Committee for the Mineral Resources Sector of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation and Mining Organisation (AIDSMO), which took place on Wednesday in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The UAE delegation was led by Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at the Ministry, and included Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, and Khalid Al Hosani, Director of the Geology and Mineral Resources Department at the Ministry.

During the meeting, Al Kaabi commended the organisation’s efforts in advancing the Arab mining sector and emphasized the importance of strengthening regional collaboration in the utilization of mineral resources. He reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to supporting cooperative frameworks aimed at accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy.

Al Kaabi also highlighted the UAE’s experience in integrating distributed renewable energy production units into the national grid, which has improved efficiency, lowered emissions, and benefited the industrial sector by reducing operational costs.

The meeting participants reviewed the organisation's accomplishments over the past year, including the launch of key initiatives. Additionally, delegates engaged in field visits to several mining facilities in Morocco to exchange knowledge and explore best practices in the development of the mining sector.
