UAE, Korea review achievements of peaceful nuclear energy cooperation ​

emirates7 - The 6th session of the High-Level Consultations Committee on Nuclear Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) and the UAE Government was held in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting was chaired by Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Kang Insun, Second Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea. Senior officials from both nations’ key nuclear energy sectors also participated.

Al Mazrouei emphasized the strong bilateral ties between the UAE and Korea, noting that their strategic partnership has led to significant accomplishments, particularly the UAE’s Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme. He stated that the High-Level Consultations Committee has been instrumental in enhancing cooperation and creating a solid foundation for future strategic partnerships. He expressed confidence in the continued collaboration between the two nations to achieve their shared objectives.

The UAE-RoK High-Level Consultations Committee on Nuclear Cooperation comprises three working groups: Cooperation on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant and Overseas Projects, Nuclear Science and Technology R&D, and Nuclear Safety and Security Regulation. Each group has a joint program focused on enhancing nuclear cooperation through activities such as sharing operational experience, collaborating on nuclear projects abroad, advancing research and development, capacity building, and addressing cybersecurity concerns.

These meetings are part of the broader bilateral agreement between the two countries, which focuses on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The agreement aims to strengthen and expand their nuclear partnership to support sustainable development and clean energy initiatives.
