emirates7 - Dr. Ian Borg, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by Maria Camilleri Calleja, Malta's Ambassador to the UAE, and an official delegation.

During their visit, Dr. Borg and the delegation toured the mosque’s halls and courtyards, gaining insights into its values of cultural openness, coexistence, and tolerance, which are inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father. They also learned about the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre's efforts to promote Islamic culture and foster cross-cultural understanding.

The group was introduced to the mosque’s architectural history and unique design features, as well as its impressive collection of artworks and artifacts, which reflect the rich artistic and architectural heritage of Islamic civilization.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Borg was presented with a copy of the centre's latest publication, “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace.” The book offers a visual exploration of the mosque’s architectural beauty, featuring award-winning photographs from the "Spaces of Light" photography competition.
