TRENDS highlights vital role of scientific innovation in healthcare

emirates7 - As part of its U.S. research tour and in alignment with the "Year of Community" initiative, a delegation from TRENDS Research & Advisory visited the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, part of Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.

The delegation, led by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, included senior leaders, sector heads, and young researchers from the center. During an in-depth visit, the group explored the institute’s advanced medical and research facilities and was briefed on its outstanding achievements in pediatric surgical innovation.

A comprehensive discussion session took place, emphasizing the critical role of scientific research and innovation in improving healthcare outcomes, particularly for children. The session also delved into opportunities for collaboration between both institutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, medical research, and media engagement — including inviting institute experts to participate in scientific and medical podcasts.

To begin the session, representatives from Children’s National Hospital delivered an overview of the Sheikh Zayed Institute’s vision and activities. They highlighted the institute's global reputation for providing advanced, compassionate care to children. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, the institute aims to speed recovery and enhance the quality of life for pediatric patients, all within a supportive, patient-centered setting.

The officials noted that the institute treats children from numerous countries each year, underscoring its prominence in the global healthcare landscape.

The TRENDS delegation expressed admiration for the institute’s excellence in both scientific research and clinical practice, remarking that it stands as a symbol of the UAE’s long-standing humanitarian mission — one that champions knowledge, innovation, and collaboration.

TRENDS reaffirmed its commitment to forming global partnerships with top-tier institutions to help develop innovative healthcare solutions, especially those focused on child wellbeing. The organization stressed that scientific research remains essential to shaping a better future.

Dr. Anthony Sandler, Surgeon-in-Chief at Children’s National Hospital, warmly welcomed the TRENDS team and underscored the importance of such exchanges in enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

At the close of the session, the TRENDS delegation presented the hospital with a copy of The Young Researcher, a book that promotes the value of scientific inquiry and encourages youth engagement in research to benefit their communities.

Established in 2009, the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation has grown into a global leader in pediatric healthcare. It pioneers cutting-edge surgical techniques and stands as a testament to the UAE’s visionary humanitarian efforts. The institute is one of many global initiatives inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aimed at fostering international collaboration in research, education, and healthcare for the betterment of humanity.
