First UAE-Morocco Business Council convenes in Sharjah

emirates7 - Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), expressed his pride in hosting the inaugural UAE-Morocco Business Council meeting. The event was attended by Ahmed Al Tazi, the Ambassador of Morocco to the UAE, Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), as well as representatives from the UAE Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, and members from both sides of the council.

In his speech, Al Owais highlighted that holding the first session of the UAE-Moroccan Business Council in Sharjah marks a significant milestone in the growing bilateral ties between the two countries. He emphasized the promising business and investment opportunities that the Council will offer, thanks to the strong support from the Federation of UAE Chambers, CGEM, and the relevant ministries and institutions of both nations.

Al Owais further pointed out that the UAE's proven expertise and numerous investment opportunities will even greater prospects for cooperation and collaboration between the UAE and Morocco. He stated that the Council’s meetings will lay the groundwork for future joint efforts within the business community, bringing together prominent business leaders, investors, and representatives of major commercial and economic entities from both countries.

Chakib Alj, in his remarks, noted that the establishment of the Council is part of a joint initiative between CGEM and the Federation of UAE Chambers. He highlighted the significant potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially in sectors like tourism, infrastructure, agri-food, renewable energy, finance, and advanced technologies. Alj also welcomed the increasing number of Moroccan companies establishing operations in the UAE and the rise in Emirati investments in Morocco, which underscores the dynamism of their economic relationship.

The UAE-Moroccan Business Council is co-chaired by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais on the UAE side and Anas Guennoun, Vice-President of CGEM's International Affairs Committee, on the Moroccan side. After reviewing the Council's future mechanisms and action plan, both sides emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the private sectors of both countries and discussed steps to further strengthen the ties between institutions and businesses in the UAE and Morocco.
