Nearly 1.9 million guests visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque during Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr

emirates7 - During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre hosted a wide array of activities, drawing nearly 1.9 million worshippers and visitors. In total, 1,890,144 people visited the mosque during Ramadan and the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

Among them, 562,632 attended prayer services, with 193,435 participating in Isha and Taraweeh prayers and 195,987 in Tahajjud. On the spiritually significant 27th night of Ramadan, 72,533 worshippers gathered, and 26,025 attended Eid Al-Fitr prayers.

Additionally, 391,011 people visited the mosque for cultural and spiritual experiences during Ramadan, and over the Eid period, 122,819 guests were welcomed—comprising 57,629 worshippers and 64,959 visitors. Despite Ramadan 1446 lasting 29 days, the mosque recorded over a 10% increase in visitors compared to the previous year.

On average, around 11,240 people visited daily throughout the month. The Centre organized 289 guided tours for 4,270 visitors. Tour operators booked 6,774 visits, accounting for 128,361 tourists, and 75 official delegations brought in 1,126 guests.

To support public engagement, the call centre staff was doubled, handling 4,436 inquiries. In partnership with Abu Dhabi TV, the mosque broadcast daily live prayers, reaching audiences around the globe.

More than 2.6 million Iftar meals were distributed during Ramadan, highlighting the UAE’s enduring commitment to generosity and humanitarian values. As part of the “Our Fasting Guests” initiative—sponsored by the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation and supported by Erth Hotel—Iftar and Suhoor meals were provided throughout the holy month.

A total of 2,625,568 Iftar meals were prepared, with 898,288 distributed at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, 442,345 in Al Ain, 1.16 million across labour cities in Abu Dhabi, and 105,935 in other locations across the emirate. Additionally, 19,000 Suhoor meals were given to worshippers during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

The mosque’s Dome of Peace and Souq Al Jami’ offered visitors a cultural Ramadan experience, featuring shops, restaurants, and 22 kiosks set up in the mosque’s northern and southern courtyards.

More than 11 cultural and religious initiatives were launched, including four Ramadan lectures by the Mohammed bin Zayed Majlis and 18 lectures by esteemed scholars—guests of the UAE President—in collaboration with religious authorities and the Zakat Fund.

The Centre also produced 13 episodes of its "Jusoor" (Bridges) programme, involving over 1,200 participants from embassies, institutions, and mosque staff, promoting unity through volunteering and shared Iftar experiences rooted in Islamic values.

In addition, a blood donation campaign was conducted with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, and audio Qur'ans featuring mosque imams were distributed in honor of Zayed Humanitarian Day (19th Ramadan).

Throughout the month, the Centre used all available resources to promote its Ramadan programmes. Over 100 media items were produced, with coverage appearing in more than 3,600 news articles and social media posts across 700 outlets, showcasing the mosque’s message of peace and cultural exchange worldwide.

Organisational committees at the Centre mobilized staff across departments to volunteer, providing smooth and peaceful prayer experiences. They were supported by over 580 volunteers, including members from the Emirates Red Crescent, Absher Ya Watan, Ma’an Volunteer Group, and other service organizations.

The Centre expressed gratitude to more than 20 governmental and private partners for their essential roles in the success of Ramadan operations.

Efforts also extended to other mosques:
Sheikh Khalifa Grand Mosque in Al Ain welcomed 290,331 worshippers, including 99,746 for Isha and Taraweeh, 76,491 for Tahajjud, and 32,030 for Eid prayers. It also distributed 442,345 Iftar meals.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah hosted 122,347 worshippers, including 61,084 for Isha and Taraweeh, 27,662 for Tahajjud, and 30,268 for Eid.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Grand Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah saw 39,783 worshippers, with 19,577 attending Isha and Taraweeh, 10,399 Tahajjud, and 3,430 Eid prayers.
