emirates7 - The sale of five premium car plate numbers raised over Dh75 million at the ‘Most Noble Number’ charity auction, held at the Armani Hotel Dubai in Burj Khalifa. Notably, the highly coveted DD 5 plate sold for an astounding Dh35 million.

In total, the auction, which featured special number plates with the DD code and 20 exclusive mobile numbers, generated Dh83.6 million. The proceeds will support the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, which aims to fund healthcare projects in underserved communities. Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the campaign coincided with Ramadan. The auction was organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in partnership with Emirates Auction, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), e& UAE, and du.

From the auction’s start to its conclusion, business leaders, philanthropists, and humanitarians competed fiercely, with bids starting at Dh2 million and rapidly increasing to Dh5 million. Participants often consulted with their teams and decision-makers before raising their bid paddles.

The largest contributor was Muhammad BinGhatti, Chairman of Binghatti Holding, who participated through a core team. The team successfully secured the DD 5 plate for Dh35 million, the highest bid of the night. BinGhatti also purchased the DD 15 plate for Dh9.2 million, bringing his total to Dh44.2 million, more than half of the auction’s total earnings.

Among the bidders was a young child, affectionately referred to as ‘the cub,’ who successfully acquired the DD 24 plate for Dh6.3 million on behalf of his father.

The auction for RTA plate numbers raised Dh75.9 million. Other notable plates included DD 12, which sold for Dh12.8 million, and DD 77, which went for Dh12.6 million.

In addition to the plates, the auction also featured 20 fancy mobile numbers, raising over Dh7 million. The bids for 10 e& UAE numbers totaled Dh4.732 million, while 10 du mobile numbers fetched Dh3.045 million. The most expensive mobile number was du 0584444444, which sold for Dh1.7 million, followed by e& UAE 0565000000, which fetched Dh1.6 million.

Separately, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) will auction 444 special plate numbers in a separate online charity auction, accessible through the Emirates Auction app.
