emirates7 - During the last ten days of Ramadan, Muslims engage in dedicated worship and extended group prayers at mosques. To ensure smooth traffic flow during this period, Dubai Police have convened to discuss strategies for preventing congestion and inappropriate behavior.
The Dubai Events Security Committee reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the comfort and safety of road users by implementing measures such as traffic regulation, reducing congestion, organizing parking spaces near prayer areas, facilitating the movement of worshippers’ vehicles, and ensuring a safe arrival and departure for the public.
The meeting also addressed security and organizational measures at key tourist attractions, major locations, and shopping centers during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, along with ensuring the security of prayer halls in the last ten days of Ramadan.
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and Chairman of the Dubai Events Security Committee, urged residents to follow traffic regulations and avoid random parking in front of mosques during Tarawih and Qiyam Al Layl prayers.
He noted that in previous years, authorities observed instances of worshippers improperly parking behind other vehicles, completely obstructing traffic lanes. Others parked their cars in front of road exits, preventing drivers from continuing their journeys, while some remained inside mosques for hours without considering the rights of others.
Al Ghaithi also highlighted issues such as individuals standing on sidewalks in a manner that distorts the city’s appearance and others engaging in disruptive behaviors that block roads, inconvenience drivers, and force them to wait extended periods or seek police assistance.
He emphasized that blocking roads near mosques is an unfortunate practice that negatively impacts road users, particularly in residential areas or locations near internal and main roads. He assured that traffic patrols will be actively working to maintain road safety and ensure smooth traffic movement.
To enhance order, Dubai Police have intensified traffic patrols around mosques and prayer areas during Ramadan prayer times, implementing stricter enforcement measures against all types of traffic violations.
