UAE Judo wins Bronze medal in Tashkent Grand Slam

emirates7 - The UAE Judo National Team earned a Bronze medal at the Tashkent Grand Slam Judo Championship, organised by the Uzbekistan Judo Federation as part of the 2025 International Judo Federation’s annual schedule.

UAE judoka Amr Gad secured the Bronze in his first official international competition. Gad impressed throughout the event, starting with a victory over Uzbek Mavo Nerdiev, followed by wins against Italian Pellegra and Kazakhstan’s Juparnazar. He then triumphed over Uzbekistan’s defending champion Sobirov in a tight match, advancing to the semifinals. Though he was defeated in the silver medal bout, Gad’s remarkable performance earned him the Bronze.

This result helped the UAE Judo Team secure 8th place in the overall ranking, surpassing several top teams from around the world.

The championship featured 242 male and female athletes from 23 countries, with a total prize pool of €154,000.
