West Indies beat Pakistan in second test to secure 1-1 series draw

emirates7 - West Indies clinched their first Test win in Pakistan since 1990, defeating the hosts by 120 runs in the second match in Multan on Monday, thus ensuring the series ended in a 1-1 draw.

Pakistan, chasing 178 to win and sweep the two-match series, were in a challenging position at 76-4 by the end of day two. They quickly lost two more wickets, with Saud Shakeel (13) and Kashif Ali (1) dismissed cheaply by Kevin Sinclair and Jomel Warrican.

Mohammad Rizwan fought back for the hosts, scoring 25 runs off 62 balls, but was dismissed by Warrican in the 42nd over. Warrican was the standout bowler, taking five wickets in Pakistan's second innings.

With Pakistan reduced to 122-8, their chase faltered as Gudakesh Motie dismissed Noman Ali and Warrican struck again to remove Sajid Khan.

Warrican, named Player of the Match and Player of the Series, attributed his success to consistency, saying, "Just the variation of pace and hitting the same length over and over. Consistency is the key to everything I do."

Pakistan had won the first Test in Multan by 127 runs.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite expressed pride in the victory, saying, "We haven't played in Pakistan for a number of years, and we haven't won here in a while. To come here and do it as a young group is incredible."

Reflecting on the challenging conditions, Brathwaite added, "On this pitch, there's a ball with your name on it around the corner. We did that with the bat in the second innings, and it was good to see. It was a good experience. When you get on better pitches, you can have a similar mindset, and it will help you in the long run."
