emirates7 - On the occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day, Coldplay's frontman, Chris Martin, paid a heartfelt tribute to the country during the band's concert in Ahmedabad on Sunday by performing *Vande Mataram* and *Maa Tujhhe Salaam*. He concluded the concert with "Salute to Mother India" and extended his Republic Day greetings to the audience.
In another memorable moment, Martin dedicated a song to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah. With a playful remark, he confessed that he wasn't fond of watching Bumrah "destroy" the English batting lineup with his aggressive bowling.
"O Jasprit Bumrah, my beautiful brother. The best bowler in the whole of cricket. We did not enjoy watching you destroy England, wicket after wicket," Martin joked.
The concert, which took place on Sunday, was live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
Martin wrapped up the performance by expressing his gratitude and love for the enthusiastic crowd. Earlier in the show, Indian singer Jasleen Royal joined Martin on stage to perform *We Pray*, a song from Coldplay's latest album, *Moon Music*.
During their India tour, Coldplay performed in Mumbai on January 19 and 21, followed by two shows in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. Martin also took the opportunity to shout out to Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan during the Mumbai concert.
