Microsoft to invest $80 billion in AI data centres

emirates7 - Microsoft plans to invest approximately $80 billion in expanding its data center infrastructure to support artificial intelligence (AI) during the current fiscal year, which concludes in June, according to a report by the German press agency (dpa).

Over half of this investment will be allocated to projects within the United States. The expanded computing resources aim to enhance AI model training and support the global rollout of AI-powered features, the company explained in a blog post on Friday.

Microsoft has established itself as a leader in AI technology through a substantial partnership with OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, and is working to integrate AI capabilities across its entire product portfolio.
