emirates7 - The inaugural edition of the "Gulf Bridges – Gulf Youth Leadership Programme," organised by Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah under the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, has successfully concluded.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation and wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the programme brought together 40 young men and women from across the GCC.
As part of the initiative, participants visited the wheat farm in Mleiha to gain insights into Sharjah's leading development projects, reflecting the emirate's commitment to building a robust food security system and advancing sustainable agriculture.
During the visit, Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock and CEO of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Corporation (EKTIFA), engaged participants in a thought-provoking discussion about the key challenges facing food security projects in Sharjah and strategies to address them.
Dr. Al Tunaiji highlighted Sharjah's pioneering efforts in wheat hybridisation, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the UAE, conducted through biotechnology laboratories at the Mleiha wheat farm. He also discussed the emirate's proactive use of artificial intelligence in agricultural projects, aiming to achieve future readiness through sustainable farming practices.
He further emphasised the significance of the Mleiha Dairy Farm, known for producing organic Mleiha milk, and the development of an innovative "Fly" broiler farm model based on free-range breeding. Dr. Al Tunaiji underscored Sharjah's wealth of natural resources and its rich environmental diversity.
The programme offered a variety of field visits and interactive workshops, providing participants with an enriching and comprehensive learning experience.
Dr. Hanaa Namankani, Assistant Professor and Self-Development Trainer, conducted a specialised workshop titled "The Journey of Self-Awareness," which delved into the intricate facets of personality exploration.
Additionally, participants attended a creative workshop at Sharjah Safari, titled "Personal Skills and Team Building," led by trainer Ashwaq Ahmed Bouali, a consultant in leadership, motivation, and unlocking potential. This session utilised the natural setting to foster collaboration and personal growth.
