emirates7 - The UAE National Orchestra has announced the appointment of Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qassimi as its new Managing Director. Leveraging her extensive experience in advancing the UAE’s cultural and creative industries, Al Qassimi is set to guide the Orchestra’s strategic vision, fostering innovation and solidifying its status as a premier cultural institution.
“It is an honour to assume the role of Managing Director for the UAE National Orchestra,” Al Qassimi remarked. “This is a collaborative effort, and I am excited to work with a committed team to shape a vibrant future for music in the UAE. The Orchestra stands as a symbol of our dedication to celebrating cultural heritage and nurturing creative excellence. I am inspired by the opportunity to lead this initiative and help position the UAE as a hub for musical innovation and cultural exchange.”
The Orchestra has also welcomed Amine Kouider, an acclaimed conductor with over 30 years of experience, as its Artistic Director. Kouider, who has built a career uniting Eastern and Western musical traditions, previously led major orchestras in France and the region, founded the International Philharmonic Orchestra – Paris, and was awarded the title of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters of France.
“Our mission is to honour the UAE’s rich cultural heritage while promoting musical innovation and exploration,” said Kouider. “We aim to an environment where musicians can experiment with diverse sounds and styles, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and showcasing the UAE’s musical legacy on a global stage.”
The Orchestra is now seeking exceptional musicians aged 18 and above for full-time positions in both Arabic and Western ensembles. These roles provide competitive compensation and an opportunity to contribute to a unique musical repertoire that blends Western chamber music, Emirati compositions, and innovative works that celebrate cultural diversity and exceptional musicianship.
Interested applicants, including instrumentalists and vocalists, must submit a high-quality video showcasing their musical talents to allow the selection panel to assess their technical expertise and artistic expression. Shortlisted candidates will advance to in-person auditions in Abu Dhabi, where they will perform live for a judging panel with deep expertise in technical and artistic evaluation.
Each category of audition has specific repertoire requirements, which are detailed on the Orchestra’s official website. Musicians interested in applying should visit [www.UAENationalOrchestra.ae](http://www.UAENationalOrchestra.ae) to review the guidelines, complete the application form, and submit their audio or video recordings as specified.
The deadline for applications is 26th January 2025.
