32nd edition of UAE President Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses commences tomorrow in Abu Dhabi

emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (ADEC) is gearing up to host the 32nd edition of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses on Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Abu Dhabi.

Ali Al Shaiba, Director-General of ADEC, announced that this year’s competition will feature intense rivalry among top horses and riders from both within and outside the UAE, vying for a total prize pool of AED 10.8 million across seven rounds.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Shaiba described the current edition as extraordinary, marking the final leg of the UAE President’s Cup World Series for Purebred Arabian Horses. He expressed gratitude to the Supreme Organising Committee for selecting the Abu Dhabi Turf Club as the venue, emphasizing the track’s readiness to host elite horses, riders, and trainers from around the globe. This year sees a notable prize pool increase of AED 5.2 million, raising the total to AED 10.8 million.

The event will showcase seven races, highlighted by the prestigious UAE President’s Cup Purebred Arabians Grand Prix (Group 1), featuring a prize pool of AED 8 million. This flagship race, covering a distance of 2,200 metres, promises thrilling competition among the world’s finest purebred Arabian horses. Additionally, the President’s Cup for Thoroughbreds offers a prize of AED 1 million.

First introduced in 1994 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE President’s Cup was established to celebrate the unique qualities and heritage of purebred Arabian horses in the racing world.

Today, the UAE President’s Cup stands as a premier event in global purebred Arabian horse racing, attracting top racehorse owners, trainers, and jockeys from across the world.
